Hi there,

i'm trying to install OpenFoam via minGW on Windows 10 (Version v2012).

The installation works but when i now want to run the first blockmesh command in the cavity tutorial i get the following error:
"$ blockmesh
D:/run/v2012/msys64/home/ofuser/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-v2012/platforms/win64MingwDPInt32Opt/bin/blockmesh.exe: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-6.dll: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Both blockmesh.exe and libstdc++-6.dll exist in the folder.

i found this thread: error while loading shared libraries which seams to face the same error but it didn't really help because i'm not trying to install a second version and therefore my .bashrc looks different.

The .bashrc -File i'm looking into is located here: D:\run\v2012\msys64\home\ofuser\OpenFOAM\OpenFOAM-v2012\etc while D:\run is the folder where i installed OpenFoam.

Is this right? I found some more .bashrc Files in e.g. in D:\run\v2012\msys64\home\ofuser

I hope that anybody can help me. Please let me know if you need any further information.

Best regards
Anna

Did a quick check and was told that this was indirectly related to MS-MPI. Not really sure what that means, but would make sense to followup on develop.openfoam.com and tag @pawan on it. He doesn't follow things on this forum, but would be the best source of information.

Hi, thank you very much for your answer. I already found the problem and it indeed had to do with the MS MPI.
First thing: I'm not the administrator on the computer i'm working on and when i just installed Min GW via double-click it didn't even ask me to install MS-MPI.

So i uninstalled it and reinstalled it via right-click and "install as administrator" and installed MS-MPI (which it recommended now) and it works.

The only thing i don't understand is why it didn't ask me to install MPI in the first place. Might be an issue with the rights or firewall.

Thread is closed for me then.
olesen and ghastbug like this.
