I've been installed the OpenFoam package 1.5 on my ubuntu 8.04 system and I try to run the good cavity tutorial. After typing:

paraFoam -case $FOAM_RUN/tutorials/icoFoam/cavity

ParaView 3.3.0 starts and ask me to choose a reader for the cavity.openfoam. When I click on OpenFoam Files paraView crashes containing following message:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::length_error'
what(): basic_string::_S_create
Aborted

When I go into my directory I cannot find any *.foam file which has to been created after typing - as described in the tutorial - blockMesh.

So annyone knows how to fix this problem?

Hi Paul,

have you tried to compile ParaView 3.3.0 and PV3FoamReader? It worked for me. Read the OpenFOAM README file for the instructions.

thanks for the advice! After compiling ParaView and PV3FoamReader the cavity example now works for me.
