Hello,
I'm new to this forum. Thanks for that great script. I would never manage to install the program correctly without it! However, there still occurred an error during the building paraFoam part. I would be very thankful if someone of the more advanced guys here could help me out, I'm completely new to openFoam and CFD in general. edit: I just recognized that two ThirdParty-folders were created: "ThirdParty-1.6" and "ThirdParty-1.6.x". Could this be the reason for the script not finding all variables needed? The last part of the logfile says: PHP Code:

Greetings Sebastian and welcome to the forum,
First of all, I can only assume you are speaking of this script: http://code.google.com/p/openfoam-ubuntu/ Secondly, the support thread for it is this one: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...er-ubuntu.html No problem you posting in a separate thread, it's just this way you had a lesser probability of me or Fabio picking up on it. Now, for the installation issue you've got: fortunately it already has been discovered and fixed. Please follow these instructions: Quote:

Hello Bruno,
thanks for the advice, the other installer worked fine, no errors. But now I get an error when typing in "paraFoam": PHP Code:

Hello Sebastian,
You're welcome, and I'm glad it worked. Quote:
Code:

As for being a hero... the cause is just and I only have been sacrificing some time of my life, and not my life itself, or so I hope ! And I thank you too for reporting the bugs with the script, which without it would take a few more days, weeks or maybe even months until it would be fixed... Best regards and happy openfoaming Bruno

I just typed in "paraFoam".
After that, paraView starts and an "Output Messages"-window pops up with those errors. |

Then your words were a bit misleading:
Quote:
OK, the simplest execution of the cavity tutorial is to run the following commands: Code:
blockMesh icoFoam Actually, after blockMesh you can already run paraFoam, because a mesh is generated by blockMesh As for the user guide, I suggest that you read and follow the steps starting here: Chapter 2 Tutorials Have a good reading and training session and read very carefully the steps that the guide shows you! And don't forget that Linux is very sensitive to letter casing... i.e., blockmesh isn't the same as blockMesh!
