OpenFOAM on opensuse 11.2

Hi,
I am installing OpenFOAM 171 on OpenSUSE . I have successfully installed the software according to the instructions given on the site . However when i run icoFoam , the terminal shouts :
“icoFoam: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.11′ not found (required by /opt/openfoam171/lib/linuxGccDPOpt/libOpenFOAM.so)
”

Acc to me , glibc is not installed properly . To overcome the prob i did a :
“sudo zypper in -t pattern devel_C_C++
”
which outputted :
” ‘devel_C_C++’ is already installed. ”
Can you help me out in solving the error.

Greetings Balkrishna,

Sadly the RPM that is available at www.openfoam.com is for openSUSE 11.3 and above, so it won't work with 11.2

In your case, the problem is that the base system glibc library on openSUSE 11.2 is missing functionalities that the one in 11.3 already has. You will have to build OpenFOAM from source.

Ironically, you can follow these instructions, since they are applicable to both openSUSE versions: Installing OpenFOAM 1.7 on openSUSE 11.3
