3. i download the source pack file given in that website
4. i extracted tar file into my root directory /opt/OpenFOAM
5. then in home directory i /.bashrc file i pasted the following line at last
# source /opt/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.1.0/etc/bashrc
6. i save the file and close it
7. when i type foamSystemCheck i get as "command not found"

Greetings kirubhakaran,

For the deb package for Ubuntu, start reading here: http://www.openfoam.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=410#c1013

As for the source package, do not install OpenFOAM directly on "/opt" until you have enough experience. Simply follow the instructions provided in the page for the source package and install OpenFOAM on your user area at "$HOME/OpenFOAM".

Best regards,
Bruno

elvis will become famous soon enough
Hi,

can you post your ~.bashrc (only the lines that are responsible for OpenFoam)

do the OpenFoam shortcuts work properly? Try
foam
tut
sol

I guess that you did not configure your .bashrc.
