Hi Foamers,

Recently I've faced with a problem.
We plan to simulate radial turbine stage with OpenFOAM.
Now, I have draw two separate meshes, the rotor mesh and the stator mesh.

The problem is that, how could I connect the two meshes together and form them into a whole turbine stage?

After form them together, I'll use GGI to define the interface for simulating the rotor stage.

Thanks and waiting for your reply.

Use the mergeMeshes utility.

Thanks Peter, Now the questions solved.
And i've found the utility of mergeMeshes is different for different versions of OpenFOAM.

I've installed 2.3.0 and 3.0 extended on my PC, however, the 3.0 extended version seems more complexed when using it.

Yes you just run into a variety of differences between the extended project and foundation version. First, I would recommend to upgrade to version 3.0.1 from openfoam.org or v3.0+ from openfoam.com unless you know you want and must use version 2.3.0. Then yes, there are differences between the versions. One of them is, that mergeMesh from foundation or openfoam.com are generating AMI (arbitrary mesh interface) in between two nonconformal mashes, while the extended version creates GGI (general geometrical interface) which are two different implementation of the same behaviour. So before merging the meshes, it's good to know which openfoam you need to use for your simulation as the merged mesh will not work in the other fork of OpenFOAM.

Hope this helps
