Hello everyone!

I am trying to simulate the flow around an inclined flat plate (I edited the files from the motorbike tutorial), the computational domain was created using blockMesh. I exported an STL file from Inventor but the quality was very poor, so I decided to refine the geometry in Salome by creating a mesh.
In the SnappyHexMeshDict I am using the name of my solid as it is in the STL file and defined it as a wall. After running SnappyHexMesh the mesh is created but then, when visualizing in paraview I get a warning on terminal "Cannot find any patch or group names matching <name of my STL file>" in the polyMesh file. However, in paraview the mesh is created in the solid. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum Sergio.

Without further information it is hard to say. You say you have a poor quality stl and created a "mesh" in Salome. What do you mean with mesh here? A refined stl or a finite volume mesh? I assume its the first, but be careful with the nomenclature here.
Then going to snappy, there are several things that could be wrong, we need to have a look at the snappyHexMeshDict and maybe also the blockMeshDict you are using. You can also share the case, if its not confidential.

Best regards.

Hello AtoHM.

Thanks for your reply and sorry for the consufion. I actually refined the stl in Salome.
I tried to reply including the blockMeshDict and SnappyHexMeshDict files in the "Go Advanced" option but the reply is not posted.

Just copy and paste the content of the dictionaries here. The stl would help to understand your geometry and check consistency of the dimensions.
