Hi Guys
I wanna simulate a flow in channel with number of obstcales inside. Inlet and outlet faces are not same! Is it possible to build an OpenFOAM cyclic geometry out of a gmsh mesh? Thanks |

Hi
May be no one understood what i was trying to say. Let me put it another way. Can i use cyclic BC in OF on a domain that has walls/obstcales inside. Thank you in advance for your reply |

Yes. You can. But your periodic patches must be consistent.

When you say "consistent", you mean opposite faces must be geometrically consistent right?
Thank you Luiz OpenFOAM Newbie |

Yes, geometrically consistent.
Good luck, luiz |

Is it gone be possible to use blockMesh if my patches are same on opposite sides. Please note i want to use channelOodles solver. I have several 3D walls inside my channel.
Cyclic BC works fine when i have no wall inside the channel but as soon as i place a wall inside the channel it gives me an error. Any idea why is this happening? Thank you very much luiz OpenFOAM Newbie |

You have partial walls, right? I dont see any problem with that, and yes, you can use channelOodles.
Did you try checkMesh? Good luck, luiz |

I'm using a gmsh grid, too, but I'm having issues getting the cyclic boundary conditions to work. The grid just has a rectangular inlet and outlet with walls on the top and bottom. I want the left and right sides to be cyclic, but when I try running icoFoam I get errors. I've also tried createPatches, but that fails, too.
