Hi
I would like to validate my results of flow over a flat plate with blasius solution. I run the case in simplefoam and i could see my results in parafoam. However i would like to compare the boundary layer thickness with blasius solution along the flat plate, but unsuccessful in extracting the data from the results i got. I am trying to extract the data from parafoam is that possible, i also tried using sampledict file but it shows nothing. How can i extract the data from the results i got. Please help me with your suggestions. Thank You Karthik Goli |

Hi Karthik,
A few suggestions: 1. Blasius' solution is for laminar flat plate flow, if you are using simpleFoam, which is a turbulent solver, make sure in the RASProperties file you have laminar selected as the "turbulence model" and turbulence turned off. I recommend using icoFOAM if you are solving a laminar problem. 2. In ParaFOAM you can get the data by using the filters>data analysis>plot over line. Once you have generated the graph then go to file> save data. 3. The sample file is probably empty because you are specifying data points outside your domain. Hope this helps, -Ben |
