Hello,
I am running the tutorial aeroFoil in /incompressible/overSimpleFoam. The simulation seems to run correctly but when I use paraview I ve got this zoneID’s visualisation : figure1_aeroFoil_zoneID.png I don’t understand why there are stripes in the overset bloc. However, in a threshold with zoneID=0 and zoneID=1 I have this : figure3_aeroFoil_zoneID.png figure2_aeroFoil_zoneID.png so topoSet and setFields seem to run correctly. I think it’s a paraview problem but I am not sure. Thank you in advance |

Hi!
You should have also the variables cellType. range 0 till 2 With setting a Threshold filter you can filter out the inactive (hole) cells. Best regards Flo |

i also have stripes, when i look from a random view. but when you look perpendicular to your xy-plane, the stripes should be gone....

Isn't it just a graphical glitch?
In this area there are 2 overlaying meshes so I think what you see is just the 2 meshes. Same thing happens on the overset case i've run so far, and as Flo-Ha, it usually gets better when using a view normal to the plane. |

Thanks to both of you for your help
Yes I think it's a graphical glitch. To have a correct paraview picture I just have to superpose 2 different Thresholds. For example one Threshold with zoneID=0 and an other one with zoneID=1 : Superposition_Thresholds.jpg |

I have updated to the latest OpenFOAM version and I am trying to run an overset case. In the pimpleDyMFoam folder, I run the blockMesh for the "cylinder and background" case and after that I tried to run the case by typing overPimpleDyMFoam. But it does not work. Do you know the reason? Thank you |

Hi Omid,
About tutorials, generally speaking, the best way is to run the Allrun scripts (if present), then read the script(s) and logs to see what steps you need to perform to run the case. For overset cases, it's not as straightforward as running blockMesh + solver. You need to create 2 separate meshes, merge the meshes together and perform few additional steps before running overPimpleDyMFoam. But again, you'll find these information in the README.txt file and the Allrun scripts in the overPimpleDymFoam/cylinder tutorial. If you're new to overset in OpenFOAM, I suggest you to read the openFOAM-v1706 release notes about the initial overset implementation in OpenFOAM. It might help you to understand how the solver works : https://www.openfoam.com/releases/op...merics-overset |

Thank you for mentioning Allrun.pre, it was helpful for following the step by stem process. I could do everything mentioned there, execpt for "restore0Dir". What does this mean? Thanks in advance! |
