Hi all,

My case includes two regions (air, block) and I am attempting to terminate the simulation once thermal equilibrium has been reached.

I am currently using the runTimeControl function object and have been successful in terminating the simulation when the minimum temperature (using fieldMinMax) remains within a given range and time period and when the initial residual for h is low enough and remains within a given range and time period as well.

However, I'd like to be able to stop my simulation using a value more physical than h and something more useful than the minimum temperature (depending on the case, the minimum temperature won't always coincide with equilibrium). Therefore I attempted using fieldAverage to obtain the average temperature of the system and a probe to find the temperature at a critical position within the block. However, I am not able to use either of these in the runTimeControl function object and it outputs an error saying that the field is unprocessed.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Or maybe a workaround? I'd really like to be able to use the temperature at a designated point to check whether thermal equilibrium has been reached.

Kind Regards,
Dan

i think the only way to do that would be adding some code to your solver.

Thanks, I'll have to try that when I tackle this problem again!
