I would like to simulate a rotor which is tightly encapsulated by a stator with the shape depicted in the attached image. I'm guessing I can't use a single AMI interface due to the kink. Is that assumption correct? Can I circumvent the problem using two AMI interfaces - one for the top, and one for the bottom part of the rotor?

Sorry, can you show axis of rotation on your sketch?

Ok, now i see (or i think that i see).
I don't see any barriers to use single AMI interface. After 3 years of experience with AMI, we found next two requirements that should be satisfied: 1) Rotor and Stator surfaces should match each other exactly (at least at the level of CAD geometry) 2) Rotor and stator must be meshed with as much as possible uniform grids with approximately same length of of edges
