Hello,
Can anyone tell me how can I assign the different fluid properties to my case? I have a simple geometry in Y form and i would like to simulate this case with gas and air entering from each of the entrances respectively. I do not consider the reaction taking place between them. Thanks |

Hi,
As they are both gasses, you could use the reactingFoam family of solvers, but switch of the reactions. This will solve for the mixing. If buoyancy is important you probably want to use a buoyant variant. Hope this helps, Regards, Tom |

Dear Tomf,
Thank you for your Response. I tried using the DLR_A_LTS tutorial solver for my case and modified the boundaries in 0 Directory as well. But i have some error coming up which i am not able to understand. Selecting chemistryReader foamChemistryReader --> FOAM Warning : From function const Foam::HashTable<Foam::List<int> >& Foam:: polyBoundaryMesh::groupPatchIDs() const in file meshes/polyMesh/polyBoundaryMesh/polyBoundaryMesh.C at line 507 Removed patchGroup 'symmetry' which clashes with patch 4 of the same name. Could you please tell me what is wrong? My geometry is halved and it has symmetry boundary. |

Dear Akanksha,
The warning message explains that: At some point the patchGroup 'symmetry' was defined (look in constant/polyMesh/boundary), but there is also a patch 'symmetry'. This may cause problems as the name 'symmetry' references two different parts of the mesh. I would suggest renaming the 'symmetry' patch as 'sym' in constant/polyMesh/boundary and you should not have this warning anymore. However as it is 'just' a warning, it should not stop the simulation from running. Regards, Tom |

Dear Tom,
Well you are Right, i tried to Change the Name of the symmetry patch but it is not running at all. It Exits after the command - Selecting chemistryReader foamChemistryReader Does this mean, I have a Problem with the Chemistry Option or? I aologize for such Question, since I am at the very beginning of using this Software. |

Dear Akanksha,
Unfortunately I cannot answer your question as there is not enough information to work from. This thread explains a bit what is necessary. I am also not necessarily an expert on this particular solver, but maybe I could give some pointers when there is enough information. Regards, Tom |
