Hello Foamers,

I am doing a case with a heater in a cubic room. The heater could be very hot and therefore the radiation heat flux from the heater to the walls cannot be neglected.

Therefore I am considering to apply a radiation model. As far as I know, OF has three radiation models: viewing factors, P1 and FVDOM.

Which one is suitable for my case? and in addition how to set up boundary condition for heaters and other walls?

Any reply is highly appreciated.

Not sure if this is still recent.

P1 is suitable for diffusive radiation in participating media which are optically thick.
fvDOM is suitable when the medium is thinner and you need to capture the geometrical behavior of the radiation.
I don't know too much about viewFactor method, but I believe it is only for non-participating media, don't quote me on that though.
