Dear community,
I am studying the problem of a cylinder oscillating, in vertical direction, in a steady flow. The cylinder has a diameter of 0.1 m, oscillates with a KC of 8 with a period of 300 s, in water. The model is attached here. I cannot attach the mesh because it exceed the maximum file size. If someone is interested, ask me that by mail. To obtain the cylinder movement I am using the library from the OpenFOAM tutorial "movingCone", including the mesh topology change. I am looking for the calculation of the forces, particularly the vertical ones. I have some questions to discuss: - for this case, what is the best combination for solution schemes; - how the software calculates the viscous force (considering that the turbolence model has not been implemented); - if the topology change method is adeguate for this analysis; - the best boundary condition and the domain dimension. Waiting for your suggestion. Regards, Enrico |
