Simulating full Vehicles

Hi All,

I've found myself a little stuck with a problem I'm working on.

I'm trying to simulate both external and internal flow around a car. Most of this is now second nature to me but the problem I'm encountering at the moment has me stumped.

I have a race car sidepod that I'm trying to simulate it has both a radiator and fan. I'm currently modelling both using the fanPressure boundary conditions to provide the pressure changes across both. What I can't work out is that as the radiator is sealed to the sidepod between it and the fan is a mesh unconnected to the mesh around the rest of the car and so should be discarded by snappyhexmesh. However I'd like to include this section in the simpleFoam computation as well.

I have tried defining faceZones and cellZones and using cellZoneInside, this seems to create a mesh in the region between the radiator and fan but when running simpleFoam there still seems to be no flow in this region.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be fantastic!

If I understand correctly, your mesh effectively has two regions? This may be checked with checkMesh. If yes you probably need to be clever with how you couple them, and the answer is probably AMI. I am no expert in setting such simulations up so I cannot offer more than that I'm afraid.
