Hi all,
I have an interesting problem at work where we are designed a data center. We are providing cooling by providing outside air directly to the IT cabinets. On the roof we have both supply/extract ductwork serving supply/extract "lanes" as hopefully shown on the paint scribble. We are looking to to see whether our current lane dimensions are suitable. What we are worried about is supply lanes recirculating the (warmer) extract lanes and thus increasing our supply air temperature. I want to make an openFOAM simulation based on our current geometry and target fan flow rates. At the moment I'm thinking of using buoyantSimpleFoam with a set temperature at the outlet, and seeing what the average temperature is on the inlet patch. However what I am struggling with is what to do with the "external" i.e atmosphere faces. I also am not too familiar with what to do with regards to the pressure boundaries in this situation. The velocities in the ducts are quite low (around 3.6 m/s) and I'm not sure whether they would produce turbulent flow.... If anyone could confirm that buoyantSimpleFoam is a suitable solver that would be a start. If anyone could give some insight into suitable boundary conditions that would also be a great help. Thank you all in advance, Dave |

Anyone with any love for this? I can upload my trial case (doesn't work though) when I get home.
