Hi all,

I am trying to do a heat transfer between 2 different solids. One of which has anisotropic behavior.
I have read a few threads -directionalKSolidThermo syntax.

I believe we can add the thermal conductivities of the Anisotropic material in different directions to the thermophysical properties file of that material.

Please advise a direction to begin with.

Any leads would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yann will become famous soon enough
Hello,

There might be different options depending on the OpenFOAM development branch.
From what I remember:

In the OpenCFD branch (openfoam.com) since OpenFOAM-v2206: New tabulated anisotropic thermal conductivity solid transport

In the OpenFOAM foundation branch (openfoam.org) since OpenFOAM-11:
Quote:
New solidThermophysicalTransportModel provides a thermophysical transport model for solids, supporting anisotropic thermal conductivity [ commit cdaaa6 ].
Corrected heat flux calculations at boundaries with anisotropic thermal conductivity [ commit 01d2c6 ].
Added optional boundaryAligned switch for anisotropic thermal conductivity κ to force a principal direction of κ to align with the solid boundary [ commit d26e0f ].
Check the transport modelling section of the release notes: https://openfoam.org/release/11/

I don't know if this matches your needs, but it's probably worth checking.
I hope this helps,

Yann
