Hi,

I'm trying to simulate the flow past an elevator, wing and fuselage. The fuselage' length is along the x axis and the wing span is along the z axis. Hence drag and lift are along the x and y directions. The elevator is orientated at 45deg to the z axis and it's pointing down.

I would like to rotate the elevator using AMI. The examples I have seen always have the AMI rotation aligned along the main x,y or z axis. I tried to run my case but the patch weights of one side of the AMI always decreases to a low value and my solution diverges. Hence, I wonder if the problem lies with my setup or that AMI doesn't work if the rotation is not aligned with x,y or z.

Can someone enlighten me? Thanks!

Just an update. I tried to run 2 cases:

1. elevator rotating aligned with the z axis
2. elevator rotating aligned 45deg wrt z axis.

Both results completed in 1s. The 2nd case patch weights of one side of the AMI decreases to zero, but the 1st case doesn't. However, with the:

lowWeightCorrection 0.2;

the simulation doesn't abort and runs till the end. Force results looks reasonable too. Of course, different cases may give diff results. But at least this shows tt AMI problem doesn't have to align with the axis. But the patch weights may get low and cause divergence at times.
