How to get axial-average mesh values?

I have a 3D mesh for a group of hexagonal prisms (see attached picture) with an associated volScalarField.
I need to retrieve a set of axially-averaged values for this volScalarField over the whole mesh. So I want to split the mesh into axial slices (ideally ten) and find the average value for each slice. I can't find how to do this, does anyone know if there is a way? |
