Is there a solver that can handle 4 phases, compressible (high Mach numbers) with phase change (melting and solidification) and sharp interface (droplet particle dynamics is important) between liquid and solid phase in OpenFOAM?

multiphaseEulerFoam seems to come close and seem to have VOF sharp interface capabilities but how do I activate that between two phases? Also, will the saturation pressure/temperature conditions be right for melting/solidification in multiphaseEulerFoam? Also, how do I apply a temperature-based heat source in fvOptions in multiphaseEulerFoam?

Alternatively, is there a compressibleInterFoam solver with phase change?

Hey!


As you said, multiphaseEulerFoam is the closest solver with the features you need IMO. I think it can handle phase changes with interfacialProperties.



You can set interfaceCompression in transportProperties to have sharp interface between phases.


For the heat source, maybe try this:

You may need to test different settings to properly use it though, I don't know how it works in multiphase solvers.
