Hello OpenFOAM users,

I would like to do (potentially rather complex) simulation of blood flow including fluid-structure interaction. I googled a bit, but I'd still like to hear some more answers to the following questions:

- is OpenFOAM(-1.5-dev) able to solve the solid deformation using linear/nonlinear finite element approximation? I've read in several places that OpenFOAM can use FVM for both fluid and solid, but I didn't find an example of computation using FVM for fluid and FEM for solid part

- how difficult in your opinion it would be to add/modify coupling models between fluid and solid (this is actually what I'd like to play with). Does this involve digging very deep in the code?

- what is the order of accuracy and type (cell-vertex/cell-centered?) of the finite volume method in OpenFOAM (I'll be considering mainly unstructured meshes both in 2D and 3D)

I'll be grateful for any comments.

Best regards,

hjasak will become famous soon enough
Why don't you speak to Gavin Tabor at Uni Exeter or Alojz Ivankovic at UC Dublin - they have done a few of those and published papers as well.
