Dear all,

I think I finally understand all the parameters needed for a successful definition of Lagrangian injector and the corresponding kinematicCloudProperties and run my closed geometries simulation. If there is interest I would post my findings.

Now I need an advice on the solver. What solver would you advice for simulating a cloud of passively dragged scarce particles in a flow impinging on an obstacle? My particles don’t evaporate or burn; the tunnel they fly in is isothermal and the flow is much below sonic speeds.

How to define the interaction properties with the obstacle in a way that that some particles would bounce, some stick and some slip?

Is there an example I could study?

Thanks a lot
Mba

I would suggest to build your own solver. Your case description seems as pimpleFoam would be a good base. Include the kinematicCloud-functionality there.

The handling of patch collisions is done by patch interaction models. You can find them in "src/lagrangian/intermediate/submodels/Kinematic/PatchInteractionModel/". Having a look at "StandardWallInteraction.C" gives you an example how to define what is done with particles when they hit a patch. Here it is predefined by a switch in a dictionary. Instead, you could for example define a critical normal velocity, below which particles stick, and above which particles bounce.
