Hello Foamers,

I am new to the CFD community and started to work on an existing code (it is the project of a previous student) .

In his thesis, it is mentioned that he has used a 'Smagorinsky turbulence model with the 3-D compressible version of OpenFOAM for the LES simulation'.

Here, how can I understand from his OpenFoam project files that, the code is compressible?

I am sorry for the stupid simple question to the Forum. But, I am unaware of it.

Thanks,
UHGAR

Open "controlDict" file from "system" folder. The name of the solver is there. In case you only have the config files.

And try reading the User Guide http://cfd.direct/openfoam/user-guide/
Or just Google...

Actually, the entry in system/controlDict is ignored, if you start a certain solver in the console. It is only used, if you use the scripts provided in the tutorials (Allrun). If you have redirected the console output of the solver into a file, the used solver will appear at the top of this file.
