Hi all,

I am new completing some University work on OpenFOAM and I'm still very new to the programme. I am using Bash on Ubuntu on Windows.

Whilst trying to modify the SimpleFoam solver, I am unable to create a copy of the solver in my $WM_PROJECT_USER_DIR.

When I execute the wmake command, I get the following error message:

/opt/openfoam5/wmake/wmake: line 409: make: command not found
/opt/openfoam5/wmake/wmake: line 412: make: command not found
wmake error: file 'Make/linux64GccDPInt32Opt/sourceFiles' could not be created in /home/Matt-ts/OpenFOAM/Matt-ts-5.0/applications/simpleFoamDev


Here are the steps I have successfully completed thus far:

1). Copy simpleFoam solver to WM_PROJECT_USER_DIR/applications
2). Rename simpleFoam to which I have called it simpleFoamDev
3). Rename source code file simpleFoam.C to simpleFoamDev.C
4). edit files file within the make folder to read:

SimpleFoamDev.C
EXE = $(FOAM_USER_APPBIN)/simpleFoamDev

5). Within simpleFoamDev folder execute commands:
wclean
wmake

I have followed the instructions as per the following guide which was alluded to in previous posts:

Any suggestions on what the issue may be would be gratefully received, thanks in advance!

Turns out I didn't have the make package installed on my version of OpenFoam as solved in this other thread:

wmake error: SourceFiles could not be created in user home

Apologies for the double post, would delete this repeat if I knew how...
