Hi all,
I am relatively new to OpenFOAM, and need some help in creating an stl file with named regions. I am trying to model scalar transport in an arbitrary geometry. For starters, if I had to mesh the region inside a cylinder using snappyHexMesh, with defined inlet, outlet and wall to assign boundary conditions, how should I go about this? Thanks. |

Hi kauraajn,
that's not really rocket science and you will find everything about this topic in the forum here. You can use the 'Search' function to get it. 1.) Just few examples what's already available: Creating waterproof STL using snappyHexMesh or salome (obligatory to read and to understand) Giving patch names within stl files how to define patches with snappyHexMesh from a STL file ? Patch Names in STL file for snappyHexMesh snappyHexMesh - different patch names from stl file etc. 2.) Check free available OS Software for STL creation and meshing: 'Salome Meca' and 'FreeCAD' 3.) Use exisitng Linux commands to manipulate and check ASCII STL files cat, split, grep, ... 4.) and OpenFOAM utilities https://cfd.direct/openfoam/user-gui...#x14-1090003.6 surfaceAutoPatch, surfaceRefineRedGreen, surfaceCheck, ... 5.) Use 'ParaView' to check your STL geometry 6.) Start with some simple tutorials, e.g. 'motorBike', 'elbow' And let me know if you need more support ... Damian |
