Hi foamers,

I am running a simulation with OpenFoam v.9 to model the overflow of an embankment with the solver interFoam and RAS k-omegaSST.

My final aim is to calculate the wallShearStress along the embankment slope, when the breaching process of the embankment has started and some soil blocks have collpased resulting in a irregular stepped embankment profile.

The case I have implemented is very similar to the Spillway tutorial. (https://wiki.hpc.ntnu.no/display/hpc...llway+Tutorial)

To generate the geometry I tried two approaches:

1) blockMesh with spline edges to draw the "stepped" profile;
2) snappyHesMesh where I have created the .stl file in FreeCAD 3D.

The structure of the two cases is the same for all the other dictionaries and for the Boundary Conditions.

However, when I run the first simulation for the first case everything seems to be fine and I have a solution. Instead, in the second case the simulation crushed and I got the following error:

Can anyone help me to understand what this error means and why this happens ?

Thank you all for yuor help

hello, I've got the same problem, i try to culculate hull recictance,
I take DTChull case fom tutorials and just insert my STL, then littlebit fix topoSetDicts. after a several itertions like 1000 the solution is crushing.
Please, if u solve the problem, give me a hand.
