Hello Foamers!
![]() I'm new to OpenFOAM 7 and simulation in general, and I could really use your help with my current assignment. I'm working on simulating a plate heat exchanger (consisting of a plate and a pipe) in OpenFOAM. Specifically, I'm using the icoFoam solver with an added temperature field. Initially, I encountered a compilation error related to floating point numbers when trying to convert the mesh generated by Salome for use with the new solver. I realized that the issue was caused by the unstructured nature of the mesh. To address this, I created a structured hexahedral mesh using Ansys, and that resolved the compilation error. My objective is to visualize the heat transfer between the cold water flowing through the pipe and the heated surface of the plate. However, when I run paraFoam for visualization, I don't observe any heat transfer between the pipe and the plate. I've attempted to modify the time step, end time, and boundary conditions, but so far, nothing has yielded the desired results. I'm quite perplexed about this issue ![]() On a side note, I'm not very free with meshing, because, whenever I increase the number of cells, the solver crashes. This limits my flexibility in achieving a more refined mesh. I appreciate any guidance or suggestions you can provide to help me overcome these challenges! Best regards, Bouchra |
