Hi all,

after recognizing that OpenFOAM-1.6 was released I downloaded the OpenFOAM package and ThirdParty package, too. I succeed with compiling for gcc, qt (by ./makeGcc and ./makeQt) and openfoam (by ./Allwmake within the OpenFOAM-1.6 directory) without any problems at all. But after compiling ParaView (again by the make) running paraview and/or paraFoam I got the following error:

<$PROMPT>$ ./paraview
$HOME/OpenFOAM/ThirdParty-1.6/paraview-3.6.1/platforms/linuxGcc/bin/paraview-real: symbol lookup error: $HOME/OpenFOAM/ThirdParty-1.6/paraview-3.6.1/platforms/linuxGcc/bin/libvtkQtChart.so.pv3.6: undefined symbol: _ZN14QraphicsScene11eventFilterEP7QObjectP6QEvent

I used qt-x11-opensource-src-4.5.2 as the source for Qt within the ThirdParty-1.6 directory.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance and kindly regards,
wilmbas

Hi all,

I changed qt-source from version 4.5.2 back to 4.3.5 than everything worked fine for me.

Dear All,

I encounter the same error. Would you please help me? What do you mean by changing qt version?

Regards

Greetings ehsan,

He means that you'll have to build using Qt 4.3.5. You can follow the instructions available at www.openfoam.com here: OpenFOAM README for version 1.6 - Qt and continue to read the whole document for the complete instructions.

Or if you wish for a more extensive step-by-step on how to build the whole lot (Qt 4.3.5 + Paraview 3.6.1) you can read this thread: New user needs help. It's a bit long, but it could prove to be indispensable

Best regards and good luck!
Bruno
