Dear All,

I have a question about using the sample function in OpenFOAM. I am working on a simulator and I would like to know if it is possible to run `live' the sample command.

I mean: it at time t0 I am in the position P0, can I ask OpenFOAM to run the sample command and to return the value of the velocity in the position P0?

What I would like to do is to avoid to write a file: I'd prefer to have a variable U which contains the value of the velocity in a certain point at a certain time.

How can I do this?

Thanks a lot,

Samuele

I think what you're looking for is called "probes" and with a "functionObject" you get that written during the simulation. It should be fairly easy to find the inofrmation, now that you know the two buzz-words (I know it is hard to google such a thing if you don't know how it is called in a particular piece of software)
