Crank-Shaft is on a distinguished road
Hello fellow CFDOnliners,

I am a new Paraview user with some previous experience with CFD-Post and Tecplot. I am currently undertaking an extensive validation study with a research CFD code and PIV wind-tunnel data.

The results files generated from the CFD code is in a plot3D format with a separate .g file for the grid and the .f file for the functions associated with each of the variables.

The experimental PIV data is in a Tecplot ASCII file with a single block .dat file. Once I load this into Paraview, I had to choose to view 'All Files' and then manually identify it as Tecplot.

a) I would like to know whether there's a quick and easy way to rescale the entire file after loading into Paraview. I have my CFD data in metres and the experimental data files in mm. It would be really great to compare them side-by-side. This is just for the X,Y,Z geometric data, which are the first 3 columns and the velocities Vx,Vy,Vz can be the same.

b) I also need to reorient the experimental dataset into a different coordinate system (e.g. from X-Y plane to X-Z plane). Here is a link to an example file.

c) I've imported a geometry file in .stl format into Paraview, is it possible to create blank planes, lines or other shapes in space, to represent locations where the data is collected from? This would be very useful to create figures for publications. Here is the link to the STL file.

Look forward to your replies and I would greatly appreciate any help. This software is widely used but I am a bit puzzled by the lack of documentation and support for anything other than VTK or OpenFOAM files.

Thanks
