Hey there,
I am very new to this software and would appreciate any tips or pointers in the right direction. I want to load an stl file of a 3-d object and find the projected area on a certain plane. I would then like to rotate the object about each axis and determine the projected area. Please help!! |

Can you open the file? ParaView should be able to open it.
You can examine a certain plain of the object with the Slice filter. The rotation of the object can be done in the advanced properties (Transforming section -> Orientation) of the object or with the Transform filter (Rotate / Orientation). A good way to start working with ParaView is to go through this tutorial: http://www.paraview.org/Wiki/images/...Tutorial52.pdf ParaView is well explained there and a lot of small exercises teach you the practical use of ParaView. The example files for the tutorial are here: http://www.paraview.org/Wiki/images/...torialData.zip |
