Hi everyone,

OffTopic: After 13 years I came back into the Linux-World...and nothing has changed
If I use a LiveCD WiFi is found and configured automatically, but if I want to use my favourite Dist from last time (debian) it is at least for me impossible to get the WLAN-USB stick running.

Hence, I installed Linux Mint and it works real great.

BTT: And there I installed OpenFOAM as shown in the install guide.
Works ragrding icoFoam, solver solves the cavity problem. but as i want to access the data vie paraview, an error ouccurs "qt-library "xcb" not found.

I searched now for hours to solve the issue, but no improvement.
So I installed ParaView via apt and it runs.

But honestly, i have no clue what this docker-philosophie means and i thought i could find the resukts with paraview.

If i start with ./startOpenFOAM a bash starts. If i use PWD it shows "/root/OpenFOAM/.....".
But if i go to /root via linux terminal, there is no OpenFOAM-FOlder.

Now the Questions:
* can someone explain this docker-thing for me?
* or does someone know how to solve this "qt-library xcb" problem, to use paraview as intended
* or can somone explain how to find the results when using paraview natively in linux (outside this docker-thing)

Thanks to the helpers - I am quite desperate in the mean time
Kind Regards
George

...ok, in the mean time I checked out the container thing.
Sounds logic.

It seems quite ironic, that a library is missing for paraview for that the container is meant to be a closed system, a working envirnoment having everything in the container to run the specific software ... except some libraries in this case

if someone has the same Problem, just type in the container bash:

export QT_PLUGIN_PATH=$WM_THIRD_PARTY_DIR/platforms/linux64Gcc/qt-5.9.0/plugins

and paraview starts.
