Hi all,

I'm using Pointwise v17.3 R4 and I notice some very strange behaviour.

I'm trying to create the symmetry plane but the assemble special command fails miserably.
I select the outer connectors (farfield), I save the edge, then I select the interior nodes taking care that their orientation is opposite to that of the outer connectors. I save the edge, click ok and I get nothing.

By nothing I mean that the domain is empty and the message I get is this:
Warning: Aniso mesh refinement failed during domain initialization. Check dom-24. Info: Created 1 domain.

So the domain is allegedly created but it's not initialised. When I try to initialise it I get this error message:
Warning: Aniso mesh refinement failed during domain initialization. Check dom-24.
Error: Could not run solver.

I have another saved pw file which is the same with the one I'm currently working but the surface mesh is more dense. In fact, I just coarsened the same mesh and saved it as a different file (after deleting the symmetry plane domain).
So, I really don't understand what is going on.
Why is Pointwise denying to create the symmetry plane domain?

Thanks for your help!!!

Hi Lefteris,

Did you ever figure out what was causing this? I'm having the same issue!

Thanks and regards,
Tim

Please read this and then start a new thread. Attaching pictures and/or actual pw files to your NEW thread would be most helpful.
