Hi Team REEF3D,

I tried to build a mooring model and set mooring lines with the parameters in X 311, but the calculation result was not what I wanted, I used Paraview to see the mooring lines in a different mounting position and shape than in my file. This could be due to I omitted or incorrectly set some options in ctrl.txt.

I would like to ask for some help in how to improve the numerical model of moorings.

Thanks in advance,
Best regards

Hi,

I would recommend using X 310 2. This approach is more flexible and provides a solution for any input. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Kind regards,
Tobias

Hi Tobias,

Thank you for your reply. I rerun the program after changing the parameters in the X 310 option, but the result is still unsatisfactory.

I also tried to increase the number of grids, the movement of the floating body in the numerical wave tank deviated from the experimental situation, so I may have to re-establish the simulation model. It would be best if there were a relevant tutorial.

Best regards,

Hi,

could you please provide me the control files so that I can check your setup.

Generally, there are many parameters which influence the quality of the results. This is not just do to your numerical setup in REEF3D...

Kind regards,
Tobias

Hi Tobias,

Thank you for your reply. I have changed some parameters, and the simulation results are more consistent with the actual motion.

In addition, I would like to know whether the coupling calculation of current and wave simulation of 6DOF floating body with mooring can be realized in REEF3D.

Best regards

In general, REEF3D is able to simulate wave+current conditions. There is no limitation for floating bodies.

Though, I haven't used this combination yet.

Regards,
Tobias

If changing X 310 2 had not worked which parameters had to be changed? Could you please elaborate?
