Hi,

I tried to validate the sediment model against Mao (1968)’s experiments. The experiments parameters are: the water depth was 0.35 m, the diameter of the pipeline was D=0.1m, the sediment diameter was d50=0.00036m, inflow rate is 0.4m/s (far-fields Shields number is 0.065).

At first, I tried to use a 2-D setup (only 1 layer mesh along the pipeline), there is no sand dune at the downstream side of scour hole. that reflects the sediment may not be conservative.
I also tried a 3-D setup (3 layers mesh along the pipeline), the sand dune appears, thus, I think the nonconservation problem only occurs 2-D setup.

Could you please check this? (attached is my simulation result). Thanks in advance.

Regards
Bingchang
