Modelling of porous plate

Hi,
I am trying to model a porous plate in a numerical wave tank. In the REEF 3D tutorial, I came across the option given below: B 291 * double VRANS porous media as plate in x-direction: xstart ;xend ; ystart ;yend ;zstart ;zend ;dthickness ;n;d50 default: 0.0 ; 0.0 ; 0.0 ; 0.0 ; 0.0 ; 0.0 ; 0.0 ; 0.0 ; 0.0 ; 0.0 ; I think that the description is incomplete here as the default option contains 10 doubles and the description gives only 9. Kindly help. Also, I would like to know what does d50 stands for here? Because in my case it is a plate with holes. Thank you Regards Aiswaria |

From my understanding by "porous plate" it means a flat plate made of sediment, hence the d50, as in median sediment grain size.

Hi Aiswaria,
What Aragorn said is correct. However, the manual seems to have a typesetting error, the last part of the command has run out of the margins (will fix that) You will need 11 inputs, similar to the commands in 270 274 or 281. If your plate is not made of sediments, you should determine an equivalent value for the porosity parameters. Alternatively, you could also attempt the Darcy's porosity model B 240 or directly model the plate (considering the holes in the plate are large) Hope that helps
