For quick work around, go to the geometry>>> surface>>>> (in 2nd row) split by edge. Select the surface and edge and apply you will get two surfaces. then right click on part >>>...

You need two step procedure. First split...

You need two step procedure.

First split the your main part into two parts by using the split with edge

then right click on parts and make the two parts.
