Does anyone know how to convert dwg-files into a format that prostar easily can read? dwg is the format of AutoCAD.

hi lenn I'll suggest one method,see if it works. Convert all the curves in your autocad dwg to splines and save it. Then if you have any solid modelling package import this dwg file into that pacakage and then convert it to iges format which is acceptable by Star-CD.

If your version of AutoCAD can export files as an STL file then prostar should read them straight in.

I think that you must create one file for each solid in AutoCAD, not one file for all solids. We have many many solids in the dwg-files.

Another problem is that we do not have AutoCAD, we just got those dwg-files that we have to convert to a format Prostar can read.

hi lennart,

export your autocad file as an iges (or igs) file. autocad should produce a "filename.igs" file. paste the file into the directory you are currently meshing from and use the command:

iges filename.igs

this should get your drawing in as a bunch of splines.
