I have 2 comments: 1)CD does not claim to support Fedora. It might work if you get lucky, but its not a supported OS. 2)At a minimum you need the video drivers that support the X window system and better if you also have OpenGL drivers. It appears from what little you write that you have not loaded either, or you have no video card or Fedora has no drivers to support the video card you have installed.

I suspect you probably did the standard install and did not choose packages manually and then Fedora didn't install the OpenXmotif libraries. Also there may be the case that Fedora did install the Xmotif libraries but it installed version 3 while prostar wants version 2. Do this to check if this is the case: ll /usr/X11R6/lib/libXm*

Then you need to install the version 2 libraries openmotif-2.1.30-1_ICS.i386.rpm 2651772 openmotif-devel-2.1.30-1_ICS.i386.rpm 26218917 and possibly you need to create a link libXm.so -> libXm.so.2.1 in the /usr/X11R6/lib/ directory. Standard situation with StarCD and linux, this used to happen with RH 9 and RH 7.2 as well.

Make sure that you have the STARDIR environment variable set correctly.

in file "bash_profile", add the following code: STARDIR=/opt/starcd/v3150;export STARDIR PATH=$STARDIR/bin:$PATH export PATH ABSOFT=/opt/absot PATH=/opt/absoft/bin:$PATH export ABSOFT PATH

If you copied and pasted part of your actual bash_profile, then there is a typo

ABSOFT=/opt/absot

I don't know if this is the problem but you are using a version of absoft that is 5 years out of date.
