Thanks Ben, Now there is another problem, when i am installing suse linux 10. First Suse installation windows appears but when i click the install option, it loads some files then it shows "can't find CDROM" messege and it asks for inserting CD1.
In any case thanks a lot for your help! |

It is known problem on new Intel Chipset ( i think you have SATA hard disk and IDE DVD/CD and old Linux distributives. You can :
1. Use SuSe 10.2 2. Make ISO-image SuSe 10.0 DVD on your hard drive, and when you will install SuSe choose option "Install from Hard Disk" (not remember exactly) 3. make ftp-mirror of SuSe 10.0 distrib on second machine ... or use INTERNET Mirror After this installation your CD\DVD will not work But SuSe will work You can recompile Linux-Kernel ( use version later than 2.6.17) ______________________ I think simple way --> install SuSe 10.2 But one guy "Ben" may be against this idea )) |

I am indeed against the idea as there is an issue with the new batch shell which will mean you will need to patch star straight away (although you may be ok with that).... on the cd issue, i'm not sure what that is about, try a suse forum

As I said I would find a SuSe forum and ask the same question, sounds like a systems issue to me

thanks Ben i got some information from linux forum, also today i tried to instal openSuSe 10.2, but there is stiil that old problem "can not find cdrom". It didn't solve yet at 10.2 too, but i read at linux forum one guy used IDE->SATA convertor, and he succeed to install suselinux, i think i'll use that convertor maybe it solves the problem... I am using (Sata-Hard Disk and IDE- DVD/CD-rom , intel P965 chipset, processor 64 bit Intel(r) Core(tm)2 cpu 6600 @2.4GHz).
