moving only one wall of box

Hi all,
I have created a box and filled with DEM particles. Now I want to move one left wall slowly to compress the box ( and hence DEM particles). Please can anyone give me an idea how to move just one wall of the box slowly? How to create a box so that a wall is separate body of the box to which I could apply translation motion?

Overset Mesh might help

can we use overset mesh for DEM model too?

You don't want to do overset mesh for this. Just use the morpher. See the tutorial guide for an example.

Overset mesh would render the case complicated than it seems. Simple meshorphing would do. I suggest go through the mesh morphing tutorial
in the next step simulate an empty box with your requisite wall motion conditions.
In the final step try a simple simulation of DEM coupled with morphed.

PS: I am not able to help you with exact mesh morphing techniques as I do not have star ccm+ access and more importantly you will learn quicker than when given step by step guidance.
