Hello all,
I am currently working on a simulation to study the aeroacoustics of an airfoil using a NACA0012 airfoil as an example. Currently I am still at the meshing stage and have already tried a few possibilities. Parts-based meshing has so far delivered quite good results in the steady-state observation, but also required a lot of cells (8.5 M). Now I have created a mesh with the direct meshing function and that looks quite good for now, but I can't think of a way to improve it. I would like to have a finer mesh behind the airfoil to resolve frequencies of 2500 Hz and to decrease the skewness in general (see pictures). Do you have an idea how or if I can realize this with the driect mesh option? Thanks a lot! Greetings Vesta |

that is quite a bit of work using directed mesh and i cant see any reason for its use in a case like this. it is so much easier to locally refine the mesh using auto polys or trimmed mesh combined with local mesh size controls. and you dont end up with lots of wasted small cells in places where they are not required as happens with more complex geometries and directed mesh.

Yes, by now I have reached as many cells with the direct mesh as with the automatic and local refinements. However, not yet the same frequency resolution... It looked a bit more harmonic at first, but I have now also switched back to the parts based meshing.
Thank you for your answer! |
