Average flow temperature

I'm moddeling a simple pipe 1 m length heated by external heat source.
Is it possible in star-ccm+ to plot some surface average values (temperature/velocity/pressure) over specified direction? I can make a cross-section and report surface average temperature on this section, but I this way I'll have to do over 200 reports to make a plot. |

My bad, I am turned around on this. I have been training on ANSYS lately and I was conflating presentation grid in star-ccm (which allows you to sample a region at regular intervals) with a similar capability in Ansys EnSight (I think it was EnSight anyway). It's all becoming one big blur, obviously.

haha... my corporate overlords decreed that it be so. they were already maintaining licenses for both Ansys and Star-CCM and they (shockingly) came to the conclusion that it was cheaper to pay for only one.

The last time I was dealing with Ansys years ago - in Fluent anything user-defined had to be written in C and pre-compiled with hardly any possibilities to debug and CFX had a constantly freezing UI from 90's - so most of the time was spent on dealing with the software instead of solving the task ... 0_₀ |

My original experience with Fluent (over a decade ago) was fairly similar. It was not user-friendly and had a steep learning curve. However, to their credit, they have improved the software since then. Some of the user-defined inputs still require scripting through a command based journal file, but it's not in C as far I know.
There has been a lot of improvement in Fluent meshing, they have WorkBench and SpaceClaim now. They even have developed a proprietary turbulence model that is supposedly tunable (message me if you'd like more info, not going to go into it here). It's a very powerful tool, but still not as user-friendly as Star-CCM. At this point I have completed the training and just need to put it into practice, which is probably easier said than done. |
