Hello CFDers,

I'm performing a simulation about a 12 blade ducted fan (without stator) using the periodic boundary, i.e. only one blade is modelled. The whole domain is a 1/12 of the full fan. The sliding mesh is used to perform the transient simulation. The contact of rotating region and static region is set as repeating interface.

Now, I want to add the stator in the simulation, and the number of stator is 7, not consistent with the blade. How the domain is contructed in this case? Does the repeating interface still work here?

Sorry, I cannot upload the figure to show my simulation.

But in your rotor blade, top and bottom are periodic boundaries, front and back are in and out. Same for the stator...
So, you need just one interface between them two?

Hello Lefteris,

The repeating interface work as periodic boundary and internal boundary in the STARCCM+, where the contact between two region is internal boundary and the un-contact area is periodic boundary.

The key problem is that the contact area between rotating and static regions is not equal since the 1/12 and 1/7 is set for the rotating and static region respectively. I can see that the flow in static region exceeding the contact area is not coherent.
