Hello everyone,
I'm a motor design engineer currently engaged in thermal simulations for a motor using Star CCM. I've successfully created a 3D model of the motor and proceeded to analyse the temperature distribution within the windings. The meshing of the model has also been completed. The corresponding losses for each component are as follows @6769rpm: Winding: 338.66 W (density : 8933, specific heat 385, thermal conductivity 401) Stator: 77.62 W Rotor: 7.57 W Magnets: 2 W Bearing-1: 12 W Bearing-2: 3 W In the simulation, all walls have been defined as adiabatic. As per the setup, the motor winding is expected to reach a temperature of 120°C after 30 minutes (starting at 40°C). However, based on the simulation results, the winding temperature is reaching 42°C after 30 minutes. It's important to note that in order to get desired results in my analysis, I've been using a multiplication factor of 20 (which is varying for different cases) to calculate losses and account for various conditions. I'm seeking assistance to identify any potential discrepancies or oversights in my simulation setup. Any insights or guidance would be highly appreciated. Thank you. image 7 is without using factor and image 8 is multiplying the losses by 21 |
