Multi-Region Interface Problem

First of all, thanks in advance to all who read this.
Im currently studying CFD. And have a quick question for the CFD\StarCCM+ guru's out there. As seen in the attached picture. If you look at Part 1. It is my original geometry. What I would like to do is create a mesh such that it stops at Point A. and then create another mesh after Point A. I looked at an alternative solution. (Part 2) Here, I am able to create the 2 different meshes. But how can I make it so that the flow physics is continuous across the two parts? I understand that I have to use interfaces. But I am not sure how. I tried to get into the tutorials for StarCCM+ but for some reason they dont work... Can someone point me in the right direction in terms of setting up interfaces, or a different method of going about this? Any help would be great! Thanks again! Cheers, T-Rex |

You can create two separate regions for each of the parts and apply different mesh setting to each.
If the flow physics isn't changing between the two, then you don't to create an interface. |

I'm sorry I have to disagree.
Even when the flow physics isn't changing between the two regions and therefore you assign both of them to the same physics continuum, you have to interface them. Otherwise there's no information exchange and hence no flow from one region to the other one. |
