Greetings,

I am learning Star-CCM+ in case of SCR aftertreatment simulation.

Now I am trying to simulate simple water injection. However, I am no able to include liquid evaporation.
I chose lagrangian water phase and eulerian air phsae. When I select Quasi-Steady or User Defined evaporation models, I cannot initialise the solution.
I get message "Continuum or Phase [Evaporation Compatible, Multi-Component Fluid" etc. However when I get back to models selection for physics continuum, I cannot chose any required models. I attach screenshots of mentioned problem.

Can anyone provide some help or share some example simulation file? Maybe I am mixing up models which cannot work with eachover. Star-CCM+ has many tutorials except this subject.

Best regards

My *guess* is that Evaporation model might be in Lagrangian Phase models.
Also - liquid should be set as multi-component, although it may consist only of one component (water for example).
Same way - multi-component gas might be also required.

I found my fault - I was setting Constant Density Gas instead of Ideal Gas. Along with two phase gas everything has been possible to initialize.

Now I'm fighting with proper convergence. Any recommendations for solvers settings?
Thanks for reply.

Don't forget to set Saturation Pressure which is set to constant value by default.

Another question - is there only two evaporation models - User and Quasi-State? I use AVL FIRE which contains multiple evaporation models including SCR thermolysis model. Do STAR-CCM+ have more options than these two mentioned and where should I look for?

Hi, i am trying to simulate volatile liquid pentane droplet evaporation when it comes in contact with hot water. It is like spray of pentane droplets into hot water bath.

For this case, I have been trying to set up the case in star ccm+ v13 , where i define the droplets as lagrangian phase and water as eulerian phase. I also define the pentane vapor as eulerian phase. Now how should i define the three phases as ? Multicomponent liquids and multicomponent gas ? Also, i could choose quasi steady evaporation model after defining pentane liquid droplets as multi-component liquid but i could not assign the vapor components inside the evaporation model. When i click on the dropdown button to chose vapor components, it just says/shows none and the pentane vapor component does not show up at all. Is there any step i am missing ? Or can you guide me through the process of setting up this case ? Looking forward to you reply. Thank you.
