ISV is on a distinguished road
Hey!

So this is basically my problem:

I'm modelling steel cables. I fixate one end and impose an axial displacement in one of them. The settings are defined in order to get to a 8% of deformation in 10 secs.

My problem is that I want to get one of the models to go beyond this 8%, so I wanted to add a new setp to go from the time t=10 to t=11. It seems that I had the Retain Files After Full Solution option in "No" so after the model converged in the 10 sec I have no restart points available.

Is there a way to create a restart point at the time t=10 so I can go from there and add a new setp?

Cheers.

Hi,

Well if you didn't save the restart pts in mechanical (rescont option). You can still do singleframe restart procedure (ref to Ansys Mechanical APDL feature - chapter 3). This is only possible if you have the .db, .emat (if created) and .esav otherwise you’ll need to restart from scratch.

If you have those files you can add a snippet under the solution branch, resume the db file, enter the solver “branch” with /solve then specify that it’s a restart -> Antype,,Rest

Have fun
