Hello everyone,

I hope you everyone are fine and i would like to ask about my pregrade tesis.
To find the fundamental period from the dynamic analysis of an elevated pond, the theory of Professor G. Housner (1963) discretizes the model to two masses that oscillate with a different period, whose model is already made in SAP2000.

Now I have to model this pond in ANSYS to carry out the modal analysis without defining oneself how much water is involved in the waves (convective mass) and how much water moves together with the structure (impulse mass ). Mainly, these two models are being carried out in order to compare the discretization of the Housner dynamic model with the ANSYS model.

In other words, I need to define the structure and, more importantly, the liquid contained to see what mass percentages will participate and thus find the fundamental period.

Thank you very much in advance for your attention .

Bye!

You can use accoustic elements.

Yep, I can not find video in English, but Ansys interface on these videos is English. You can repeat these steps just by clicking same buttons.

I agree with Alexander, using acoustic elements to model the sloshing effects is a straight forward way to solve your problem.

In the videos he's using Fluid80 elements which are legacy elements in Ansys, you should better go with Fluid 220 / 221.

Also, since V19 onward they integrated the acoustic simulation natively in workbench so no need of command snippets.

Have fun
